WT Copeland Abby Ruins Compote Transfer-ware Rare ex condition Brown & White. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. Measurement - 8.5 inches height - 4.5' My mother had a collected many of pieces of these Copland china in the 1970's. During one of our trips to the UK , we went to the Wedgwood, Spode, Copland Museum and met the curator. The museum was not aware of this collection. We learned that Copland china made certain collection of Ironstone pottery in the mid 1800's for the American market as many Americans were becoming "middle class ". They wanted this type of china which was not made in the US. Many the households used it as their best china therefore is in very good condition. We sent the museum pictures and a plate for their collection. This compote is in remarkable shape for it age. It has no rough edges, cracks or discoloration which is often common in pieces of this age. There natural occurring little marks that are part of the manufacturing of ironstone china in 1800's. One also sees that the transfer of the pattern is not always perfect too- Many of them have little imperfections. Since this is such an unusual piece and a collector the seller is listing at a fair price. Unfortunately I cannot keep this piece as I have down sized and must make decisions on things that must find new owners. The other pieces which I have sold on eBay went quickly and at a fair price. This would have good resale value.
