This bowl is on three carved faces; the faces and the bottom underside are a cream color and is missing some of the color. The slightly rolled rim is a red color and the red color is seen on the sides of the bowl. The rim has a chip; the inside of the rim appears to have spaced raised motifs (lines). The center interior of the bowl has an Aztec scribe sitting cross-legged and wearing a feathered headdress. The figure is sitting in profile on a long seat. There is a white circle surrounding the central design. The outer wide border as well as those surrounding the central figure have geometric motifs in codices. The designs are in a raised slip relief technique including the outlines of the designs. The colors of the clay bowl are white, black, red and orange. Some of the paint has flaked off of the designs. The tripod bowl is an early to mid 20th century reproduction of a 16th century Post classic tripod bowl. The bowl has the colors of the Toltec and Aztec civilizations.
