    Vintage Barro Negro Vase Signed LAMA OAXACA MEXICO POTTERY 5"
    Handmade expertly crafted with thin walls, balanced incised design and signed by LAMA.
    The name "barro negro" means black mud, clay is unique to Oaxaca. Properties of this type of clay, firing, and burnishing produces a smooth nearly glass like black finish. Pottery pieces made with this clay spend nearly a month in production, between forming, drying, smoking and baking. Estimated age of production for Lana's work ranges from the 1940's  to the 1960's.
