VINTAGE BARREL AUGER COOPER'S TOOL BUNG HOLE REAMER SCRAPER IRON/WOOD HANDLE.
In earlier days every good cooper had a selection of these in his tool box.
A 5-1/2" long forged iron auger is set into a 4-1/4" x 1" wooden dowel handle. When you grip it in you hand you can imagine the strength it took to ream out an oak bung hole.  It had to be kept sharp.
