    Description

RITO TALAVERA QUEZADA SIGNED LARGE BOWL!. Condition is "Used".  Bowl measures approx.81/2" high and is 9" around in the widest part.  Signed "RITO TALAVERA QUEZADA" and the bowl has a geometric black pattern.  Some of his work is in the Canton Museum of Art. He lives in Mata Ortis, where earthenware is made in a special way.  Raw clay and pigment for the pots and paints are collected from the rich deposits of the surrounding hills and valleys.  The potter's hand shapes the pots, the hair of children is used to make paint brushes and baking is done in the backyard with wood and cow manure as fuel!  For years, the pots of Rito were rare because he spent a lot of time helping Lydia make her ollas.  This is one of his classic pots!
