: This is an approximately 6" x 8" (5 3/4" X 7 3/4") glossy paper, ideal for framing (no frame is included) that comes printed exactly as shown with a photo from the July 1969 Apollo 11 mission to fulfill JFK's 1961 vision of
"....landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to the Earth", along with a tiny portion of metal shavings that as per NASA "Contains Command Module metal flown to the moon", that comes adhered to the paper. We recently obtained a NASA Official Edition pin that contains some metal from the Command Module which was the only part of the Apollo 11 spacecraft to return to Earth upon the successful completion of the mission, landing man on the Moon.
The Command Module DID NOT land 'ON' the Moon
. It went into Lunar orbit around the Moon while the Command Spacecraft was piloted by Michael Collins who was in it alone during the time Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin stepped foot on the moon. 22 1/2 hours after leaving the Command Module, Neil and Buzz upon having stepped foot on the Moon re-entered the Command Module and it subsequently brought Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins back to Earth from the Moon. The part of the Apollo 11 spacecraft which landed on the Moon was the Lunar Module, aka the 'Eagle'. The lower portion of the Lunar Module still rests on the surface of the Moon today just as it was left in 1969. Upon obtaining the metal pin that contains Command Module metal in it, we shaved some of the metal off of it and adhered a tiny portion of the metal shavings unto several approx. 6" x 8" glossy papers, one of which is for sale here!
