    Description

Here is a lovely Ken Edwards Pottery demitasse cup and saucer from Mexico from the Collection designs in the El Palomar pattern. This great set is decorated with flowers, a bird, a butterfly, and feather design in shades of blue and brown on a gray pottery background. The adorable cup is 1.75 inches high by 2.75 inches across and 3 5/8 inches across at the handle. The saucer is 4 5/8 inches across.
The cup is marked on the bottom: Mexico, (lizard).
The saucer is marked on the bottom: El Palomar, Mexico, (bird head). The painters take pride in signing each piece with the KE trademark, as well as their own personal symbol, or “chop mark” (in this case a lizard and bird head), a tradition Ken brought from China. Stoneware is a type of pottery using special clays fired at extremely high temperatures. This makes it extremely hard and durable. All KE stoneware is certified Lead Free and is dishwasher & microwave safe. The Ken Edwards factory is still in Tonalá, where his young family members are at the helm. Excellent condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, or stains, only displayed and well cared for. Will quickly ship USPS. Love to combine shipping. Thanks.
History: In the 1970s, Ken Edwards and Jorge Wilmot introduced stone ware and high fire ceramics to Tonalá. Ceramic pieces include plates, platters, and jars, cooking pots, flowerpots, flower vases, miniatures, and other kinds of decorative pieces. One popular design motif in Tonalá ceramics is called the Flor de Tonalá (Tonalá flower), which is an oval center with rounded petals. The ceramics of Ken Edwards have unique designs and shapes of the highest quality and artistic value. The decorations are based on 400-year-old Nahua designs from the area around Tonalá, Jalisco. Ken adapted the animistic imagery, preserving the individual elements into a ‘play-book’ for his painters to combine on the pieces, as their talent inspires them to. Will ship quickly USPS.
My shipping price includes my actual postage cost as well as packing/handling cost (bubble wrap, boxes, tape, envelopes, etc.) with transportation to post office and my time. It entails more than the postage stamp amount when it arrives to you. Also note that I recycle materials as much as possible - saving the environment. All that being said I do try hard to be reasonable. Please leave feedback when the item is received, and I will do the same for you.
