Description
This antique straight razor is about 168 years old. There is an image of the New York Crystal Palace etched on the blade, also it is marked "NEW YORK EXHIBITION." This was a Worlds Fair held in New York City in 1853, the Exhibition of the Industry of All Nations. The Fair was held in the building etched on the blade of the razor. The building burned down in 1856. The etching on the blade was difficult to show in the photos because of reflections. The blade is unusually thick and heavy. The blade is 7/8" wide. The razor is 6 1/8" long.
There are several small chips in the handles. The blade is in very nice condition, no cracks or chips.
The tang is marked "GEORGE WOSTENHOLM & SONS CELEBRATED I-XL RAZOR WASHINGTON WORKS."
